Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Automobile Workshop to lead and manage all workshop operations, ensuring the efficient maintenance, repair, and availability of the company’s fleet and mechanical assets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing workshop personnel, optimizing maintenance processes, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the daily operations of the automobile workshop and supervise workshop personnel.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for company vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure timely diagnosis, repair, and servicing of fleet vehicles to maximize availability and minimize downtime.
• Monitor vehicle performance and maintenance records, recommending improvements where necessary.
• Oversee spare parts inventory management and procurement planning.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within the workshop.
• Prepare and manage workshop budgets, maintenance reports, and operational performance metrics.
• Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to ensure fleet readiness and reliability.
Requirements, Competencies & Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automotive maintenance, fleet management, or workshop operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and automotive diagnostics.
• Proven experience managing workshop teams and maintenance schedules.
• Good understanding of fleet management systems, maintenance planning, and inventory control.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective maintenance solutions.
• Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management software.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
