ASSISTANT MANAGER
Function: Retail Operations / Store Management
Salary: N250,000 – N300,000 per month (gross)
Location: Chevron, Lagos (Mart)
Employment Type: Full-Time
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Assistant Manager will work in close partnership with the Store Manager to oversee day-to-day mart operations, ensuring the delivery of an exceptional customer experience, optimal stock availability, and a high-performing, motivated team. This role is suited to a results-driven retail professional who is ready to take ownership and grow into a senior leadership position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Support the Store Manager in overseeing all daily mart operations, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and adherence to operational standards
•Supervise and coordinate floor staff, cashiers, and support personnel to ensure smooth workflow and service delivery
•Monitor stock levels, coordinate replenishment activities, and assist with inventory management and loss prevention
•Ensure customers receive prompt, courteous, and high-quality service at every touchpoint, and resolve escalated customer complaints effectively
•Assist in the implementation of sales targets, promotional activities, and merchandising standards
•Prepare daily operational reports, sales summaries, and handover notes for management review
•Support recruitment, onboarding, and day-to-day people management activities within the store
•Deputize for the Store Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and team direction
•Enforce compliance with health and safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
•Identify areas for process improvement and proactively propose solutions to enhance store performance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in a retail or mart environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead capacity
•Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
•Good numerical proficiency and familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic retail software
•High level of integrity, dependability, and attention to detail
