About the Role
We are seeking an energetic, results-driven National Sales Manager to spearhead the Nigerian market entry and sales operations for an ambitious, upcoming Chinese mobile handset brand.
This is a high-impact, foundational leadership role. We are looking for an industry veteran who deeply understands the dynamics of the Nigerian mobile ecosystem and can build our commercial footprint from the ground up. You will own the national go-to-market strategy, forge powerful distribution partnerships, and rapidly scale our market presence against established industry leaders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Distribution & Channel Development
• Formulate and execute the comprehensive national distribution strategy for our handset portfolio.
• Identify, appoint, and manage tier-one national distributors and distribution houses (with strong preference for candidates with experience from Samsung or Redington Nigeria).
• Build and nurture an extensive network of sub-distributors, regional dealers, and modern/traditional retail partners across Nigeria.
• Drive aggressive distribution expansion beyond Lagos into key commercial hubs and regional state capitals.
• Maintain strict inventory health, optimal stock availability, and deep channel coverage nationwide.
2. Sales Operations & Business Growth
• Own the national sales P&L, revenue targets, volume quotas, and sell-out performance metrics.
• Develop robust monthly, quarterly, and annual sales frameworks aligned with corporate objectives.
• Drive healthy primary and secondary sales velocities while proactively mitigating channel stock-piling.
• Identify and capture emerging market segments across diverse price points, product lines, and geographical regions.
3. Channel & Dealer Management
• Cultivate strategic, high-value relationships with top-tier Nigerian distributors, independent dealers, and key retail chains.
• Negotiate competitive commercial terms, trade rebates, promotional schemes, and performance incentives.
• Conduct regular performance reviews with distribution partners to ensure alignment with business KPIs.
• Enhance retail visibility, merchandising standards, and overall storefront productivity.
4. Market Intelligence & Strategy
• Maintain expert-level insight into the Nigerian smartphone landscape, closely tracking competitors such as TECNO, Infinix, itel, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, and Redmi.
• Monitor competitor pricing models, product lifecycles, marketing incentives, and channel movements.
• Deliver actionable market intelligence, consumer price-point analysis, and product-market fit recommendations to the executive team.
5. Team Leadership & Culture
• Build, structure, and lead a high-performing national sales team across regional and territory levels.
• Cultivate a performance-driven sales culture grounded in accountability, coaching, and mentorship.
• Establish clear key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous team productivity and professional growth.
6. Strategic Launch & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Play a vital role in executing the end-to-end Nigeria market launch roadmap.
• Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product Management, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to harmonize demand forecasting with inventory planning.
• Recommend continuous structural expansions, including new target cities, alternate channels, and strategic partners.
Core Requirements & Qualifications
• 15 to 18 years of progressive sales and commercial leadership experience.
• Non-Negotiable: Deep, hands-on experience specifically within the Nigerian mobile handset / smartphone industry. (Candidates from other FMCG or consumer electronics sectors without mobile handset backgrounds will not be considered).
• Direct professional experience gained within the Samsung Mobile Team or Redington Distributor in Nigeria.
• Proven track record of successfully launching, scaling, and managing a handset business through national distribution houses and dealer networks.
• Exceptional command of channel dynamics, including thorough mastery of sell-in versus sell-out mechanics and channel inventory management.
• Established, active professional relationships with key mobile distributors, dealers, and retail giants in Nigeria.
• Demonstrated capability in leading large regional sales teams and managing substantial national revenue targets.
• High willingness to travel extensively across Nigeria for market audits and partner alignment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• National Sales Revenue and Volume Growth
• Primary vs. Secondary Sales Performance
• Width and Depth of Distribution Reach
• Active Dealer and Retail Outlet Count
• Market Share Expansion and Brand Positioning
• Channel Inventory Health and Stock Rotation
• Accuracy in Meeting Monthly/Annual Forecasts

Note to Applicants: Candidates without meaningful mobile handset / smartphone industry experience in Nigeria will not be considered, even if they have strong experience in other consumer electronics or FMCG categories.
